Note	source: Walford County Families1864 of Ballysop, near New Ross, Co Wexford. "The Revd" Educated TCD (BA1817). Magistrate for Co Wexford and rector of Magheensha, Co Cork The entry in Walford says "This family is of English extraction, being descended from Jasper Gifford, who went to Ireland with William Glascott (ancestor of the Glascotts of Killowen) in 1649 and who was a branch of the same family as the late Sir Duke Gifford of Castle Jordan, Co Meath."
